Instructions:
Step 1: Cut out a 6.5" x 6.5" piece of embossed leather and utility leather (cutting the embossed slightly smaller).
Step 2: Dye, antique, or paint your 6.5" x 6.5" embossed veg-tan piece!
Step 3: Using the utility leather cut out the interior with a design of your choice.
Step 4: Carefully skive down the exterior edges at least 5CM from the edges.
Step 5: Bevel the interior edges from what you just cut out and the exterior of the utility leather.
Step 6: With both flipped over center the embossed leather on top of the utility.
Step 7: Using Eco-Weld® glue these pieces together and let them set until dry.
- Maker Tip! Place them under a heavy book or weights with a paper between them to help them set.
Step 8 (OPTIONAL): Dye, stamp, tool or take this time now to design anything on the leather tray.
Step 9: Using a wing divider set the distance to 5MM and the two pieces right side up. Trace the interior design and around the exterior.
Step 10: Using your stitching chisels punch out the interior design.
Step 11: Saddle stitch the interior pieces together.
Step 12: Now glue this piece to the leather tray (whichever side you glue it to will be the interior - so choose carefully). Allow to dry.
Step 13: Following your exterior wing divider lines punch out your stitching holes.
Step 14: Saddle stitch these pieces together.
Step 15: Pinching the closest corners together, saddle stitch each side of the tray ensuring to keep it tight for best appearance.
Step 16: Add your loose items and enjoy!
