Step 1: Cut out respective pieces for correct size magnets. 1-3/8" for 3/4" OR 1-3/16" for 1/2".
Step 2: Mark the stitch line and punch stitching holes on the larger rectangle and square pieces.
Step 3: Measure the length of the stitching lines and multiply the length by 3 for an appropriate amount of thread to stitch with.
Step 4: Saddle stitch in a U or horseshoe shape, making sure to leave one side open to insert the magnet into.
Step 5: Place magnets in the center of each small pocket you've made. Be sure to check that the magnets attract to each other, with the flesh side pointing in and the grain side out.
Step 6: Complete your stitching to secure the magnets into the bookmark.
Step 7 (Optional): Round corners to your desired size and clean up edges with sandpaper.
Step 8 (Optional): Burnish edges.
Step 9: Enjoy!

Poema Leatherwork is a family owned & operated business located in the small town of Cherry Valley, Southern California, yet our journey started in Tirana, Albania. In 2015 Gerald Coronado moved to Albania where he would spend almost 10 years living as a full-time missionary serving in church planting ministry. In 2020 his pastor and mentor passed away, along with other close family and friends back home. The Lord brought leatherwork into his life as therapy to process grief and then shortly turned it into a hobby and passion.

“Poema” is the Greek work for workmanship which means “work of art” or “masterpiece”.
Gerald hand makes all his bags, wallets, belts and accessories. His passion is also to repair, rebind and make custom covers for Bibles both new and well-used.
