Recommended Materials
- 1 to 3 oz Soft Tempered Leather (orange)
- 1 to 3 oz Soft Tempered Leather (green)
- 1 to 3 oz Firm Tempered Leather (veg, for the stem)
- Stuffing
Required Tools
Instructions
Step 1: Print and cut the pattern. (Optional: Glue the pieces to cardstock or cover them with shipping tape to make them stronger.)
Step 2: Trace the required pieces onto the desired leather and cut.
Step 3 (Optional): Clean up and finish the edges.
Step 4: Thread a glover’s needle and sew all the Body (A) panel edges together with a whip stitch, flesh sides together, starting from the bottom (wider) and working toward the top (smaller). Keep your stitches about 1/16" to 1/8" away from the edge.
Step 5: Stuff the pumpkin.
Step 6: Sew the Bottom (B) onto the assembled body, flesh sides together.
Step 7: Wet and roll the Stem (D) with the grain side out. Start from the long edge labeled “roll edge on pattern” (opposite the small stitch hole) and wrap it into a stem-like shape.
Step 8: Wrap the Leaf (C) around the Stem (D), grain sides touching, and secure them together by edge lock stitching through all 3 punch holes.
Step 9: Push the top opening of the pumpkin body into itself.
Step 10: Apply a generous amount of contact cement to the bottom of the assembled Stem (D) and Leaf (C), then place it into the top of the pumpkin. Make sure the glue bonds to all sides of the opening so the pumpkin is fully enclosed.
Step 11: Enjoy!
